Rally in support of Drivers License Bill for undocumented immigrants.

<div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">There will be a rally at <strong>South Green in Middletown</strong> today <strong>(Saturday)</strong> May 18, at 1 p.m. </span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">to push for the Drivers License ("Safe Driving") bill.</span></div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;"> A <em><strong>big turnout</strong></em> is important to help convince the legislature to pass the bill. </span></div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">This legislation would allow immigrants who can show they know how to drive to get a CT driver's license. </span></div> <div> </div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Obvious benefits:</span></div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">* People who now drive without a license can get one.</span></div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">* Highways safer because far fewer unlicensed drivers, who may leave the scene of an accident.</span></div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">* State estimated to gain several million dollars in license and registration fees (there are 54,000 unlicensed folks on the road in CT).</span></div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">South Green is across Main Street from Rite Aid and is an historic park also called Union Square. Methodist church and Jewish temple are along the green.</span></div> <div> </div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">This is an important initiative of United Action Connecticut, and we need as many supporters as we can for this cause. </span></div> <div> </div>
