“I know I’m sick. I’m scared to see a doctor - I don't have health insurance and I can’t afford to pay the bill” - We have gotten used to hearing this from our undocumented CT community.

The fact is that the undocumented community is blocked from accessing health coverage (and often healthcare itself) in CT.
They cannot apply to AccessHealth CT’s qualified health plans, are not eligible for HUSKY, and private insurance companies are either too expensive or outright reject applications due to lack of social security numbers.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Connecticut IS able to provide health care access to all of us.
A bill has been introduced in the CT State Legislature that would extend HUSKY to all state residents regardless of immigration status. This is a BIG DEAL!

Access to health care should not be a commodity only for the wealthy and privilegedwho can afford it. Health care is human right and no person should be denied the healthcare they need and a change of survival due to the ability to pay or immigration status. At the HUSKY 4 Immigrants Campaign Launch, you’ll learn about our bill and how you can take action to ensure all of our state’s residents have access to health care.
During a pandemic that has already taken the lives of more than 400,000 nationwide, Connecticut has the responsibility to ensure all its residents have health coverage. Together we CAN create a healthy state by expanding access to HUSKY to all regardless of immigration status.
